Rumors of Chinese Aid to Taliban
To whom it may concern:
As a regular reader of the People's Daily, I was comforted to hear that the Foreign
Ministry Spokesman had refuted the rumors of Chinese Aid being given to the Taliban in
Afghanistan.
The publication...www.debka.com/ ...is where I read of those rumors, stated as facts,
after following a lead on a message board. My high regard for the Chinese People and my
love for your country has always compelled me to do my utmost to quell rumors on any
front.
It is good that nations are coming together in the long battle ahead to end terrorism. A
terrorist has no respect for any government, country, or it's citizens; therefore, that
one or that group who aids, harbors, or practices terrorism is a danger to all the world,
and must be dealt with by the harshest means.
Your President is to be praised for joining in the world-wide efforts to put a halt to
this blight of terrorism which threatens society as a whole.
I fear for the saftey of those who live in your country, for it is my understanding that
China's population has a large number of Muslim nationals. The Fundamentalists, such as
the Taliban, have made no secret, that their religion demands their first allegience be
directed toward the dictates of their Imam who issues fatwas for jihad.
This seems to me, to be a direct threat to the safety and security of any nation who asks
for, and indeed must have the support of all the people, regardless of race or religion,
who live within it's boundaries.
While the followers of Islam claim their holy book prohibits them from violence, all
nations must observe that we Americans and others around the globe, are still mourning the
losses caused by the violence those same followers of Islam claimed they were prohibited
from.
My thanks are extended to the People of China for their outpouring of sympathy after the
attacks on America, 11 September 2001. I know that citizens of your nation were lost in
that horrific event, as well. Please accept my condolences to the families of the Chinese
citizens who lost their lives in that conflagration.
It is my hope that no matter what other differences nations may have with one another...we
will all continue to stand united in the war against terrorism.
Thank you again for your online publication of The People's Daily in English.
Sincerely,
Frances Wylie
