 Legend Launches First Home PC Product in HK
Legend, the largest PC maker in Chinese Mainland, taps into Hong Kong market by launching its first home PC product Friday.
Announcing its exclusive partnership with Hong Kong's biggest chain store retailer Fortress to sell its Future Pioneer 711T home PC, the company said it aimed to establish the Legend brand image in Hong Kong and achieve 5 percent market share in the first year.
About 200,000 home PCs are sold per year in Hong Kong.
The Future Pioneer 711T incorporates the latest Intel Pentium 41.5 GHz CPU and Intel 850 chipset, with other features like 128MB Rambus, DVD Drive, 40GB Hard Drive, 15"LCD display, stereo speakers and integrated writing-pad keyboard, etc.
Its target customers are the youths and students, according to Alvin Chan, Legend's deputy general manager of overseas business development department.
Brian Lam, merchandise controller of Fortress, said the product quality and technology of Legend is reliable and mature, so the new product will be very competitive at the price of below 9,000 Hong Kong dollars ( 1,154 U.S. dollars).
Legend brand PC has the biggest market share of 30 percent in the Chinese Mainland in the first half of the year 2000. It is also the No.1 seller in the Asia Pacific region (excluding Japan) and had a market share of 10.4 percent in 2000.
