Biochemical Terrorism Prevention System Mulled in China

The Chinese Ministry of Public Health has lately been mulling over efforts for various countermeasures and plans including personnel training to place China under a complete protective anti-biochemical system against terrorism.

Health Minister Zhang Wenkang told news media that the Chinese government has already been on full alert of biochemical terrorism since after the "September 11 terrorist attacks" in the US. Though no anthrax and other bio-viruses have been found in China, we can in no way be off guard against all possible biochemical attacks of terrorism.

"There is every necessity for us to work for a raise of the country's ability to counter biochemical terrorist attacks." "Nationwide investigations will be undertaken into various infectious pathogenic viruses and vectors for enforced control over anthrax and other pathogenic viruses", said Minister Zhang at the national health conference in session at the press time,.

Along with China Disease Prevention Control Center recently inaugurated a large force of professionals will be organized and trained, knowledge popularized and preventive measures taken in regard to emergencies for prevention and control of anthrax and other pathogenic viruses at the central level. These include such publications as "Preventive Emergency Measures for Prevention of Anthrax Attacks", "Handbook on Prevention and Treatment of Anthrax" and "Handbook for Prevention of Biochemical Attacks of Terrorism"

Minister Zhang also made his point clear for doing a good job of personnel training and a complete set of supervisory methods to be developed and experiments carried out for prevention of anthrax and other pathogenic virus attacks at a local level in various provinces throughout China.
