Macao Elite Get Honors
A total of 39 Macao figures and entities were awarded Friday special honors from the special administrative region (SAR) government for their outstanding contributions in various realms.
A total of 39 Macao figures and entities were awarded Friday special honors from the special administrative region (SAR) government for their outstanding contributions in various realms.
On the first such ceremony in Macao, Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah wore the Grand Lotus medals for Ma Man Kei, chairman of the Macao Chamber of Commerce and Tong Seng Chiu, former presidentof the Macao Federation of Workers' Union, after the solemn national anthem at a hall of the Macao Cultural Center.
Stanley Ho, Chui Tak Kei and Lao Kuong Po got the Golden Lotus medals and Roque Choi, Liang Pi Yun and Peter Pan received Silver Lotus medals.
The medals above are offered to those, in Macao or anywhere else, who have helped promote the image and reputation of Macao toa great extent or have devoted themselves significantly in any field to the development of the SAR.
Twenty individuals and organizations were given the Merit medals in the spheres of profession, industry and commerce, tourism, education, culture, philanthropy and sports.
Five got the Distinguished Service medals for their bravery anddedication and six were awarded honor certificates.
