Ministry of Agriculture Pledges Benefits for Farmers

The Ministry of Agriculture ofChina has pledged to undertake 13 projects this year for the benefits of farmers, the People's Daily reported Monday.

The Ministry of Agriculture ofChina has pledged to undertake 13 projects this year for the benefits of farmers, the People's Daily reported Monday.

The projects include the recommendation of fine oil-rich bean breeds in northeastern China, the crackdown on counterfeit farmingmaterials and the building of 14 rat-free exemplary pastures in northern China where rats have become a serious threat to the grasslands.

Other projects on agenda include a better pension system for workers and retirees at state-owned farms, the promotion of ecological agriculture in 200 counties, among others.
