Hong Kong's Trade Development Council (TDC) unveiled Wednesday its initiatives to help Hong Kong companies accelerate towards new growth and opportunity in the incoming promotional year, which starts on April 1.

TDC Executive Director Michael C C Sze noted that the 2002/03 Annual Plan also mapped out the Council's general promotional direction over the next three years.

The plan formulates three key strategies: develop the mainland as Hong Kong's domestic market, reinforce Hong Kong's premier position as a global trade platform in Asia, support the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and sharpen their competitiveness through a comprehensive SME development program.

In 2002/03, the TDC will organize more than 300 promotional activities to promote the export of products and services by Hong Kong firms, of which some 80 will be Chinese mainland-related.
