Dalian Int'l Airport Resumes Normal Operation

Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport, which was closed for about 1.5 hours Tuesday night because of a plane crash, resumed normal operation Wednesday morning.

Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport, which was closed for about 1.5 hours Tuesday night because of a plane crash, resumed normal operation Wednesday morning.

Passengers were seen boarding a flight to Pudong, Shanghai. Theelectronic information board in the terminal building indicates the take-off time of flights to Beijing, Harbin, Shanghai, Tokyo, Hong Kong and other cities.

Most of the flights took off or landed as normal, while a few early morning flights were postponed or canceled, according to theinformation desk at the airport.

A China Northern Airlines MD-82 passenger plane, carrying 112 passengers and crew, plunged into the Dalian Bay in northeast China's Liaoning Province at around 21:40 Tuesday night, soon after the captain reported a fire in the cabin to the ground control center.

The airliner took off at Beijing Capital International Airport at 20:37 and was scheduled to land in Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport at 21:40. The airport was closed soon after the accident.

Rescuers have found 64 bodies at press time. The rescue work isstill going on.
