Nobel Prize Winners Lecture Chinese University

A forum for world leading scientists opened Tuesday in China's prestigious Nanjing University, attracting five Nobel prize winners and over 100 well-known scientists from around the world. Organizers say that some 200 seminars and lectures covering a wide range of fields including social sciences, mathematics, chemistry, physics, computer science and astronomy will be held in the next five days.

Nobel Prize Winners Lecture Chinese University
A forum for world leading scientists opened Tuesday in China's prestigious Nanjing University, in the capital of Jiangsu Province, attracting five Nobel prize winners and over 100 well-known scientists from around the world.

Robert Mundell, professor from Columbia University and winner of 1999 Nobel Prize for economics, lectured on the most remarkable economic events in the modern history, kicking off the five-day forum.

Nobel Prize winner Lawrence Klein, Michael Spence and S.C.C. Ting also made speeches Tuesday.

Development of science and technology has brought new challenges to the human society, and how to maintain a peaceful and environment-friendly planet has become a key issue in today's world, said Jiang Shusheng, president of Nanjing University.

Organizers say that some 200 seminars and lectures covering a wide range of fields including social sciences, mathematics, chemistry, physics, computer science and astronomy will be held in the next five days.
