The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government said Monday it would press ahead with the introduction of an anti-terrorism measures bill.

Speaking at the HKSAR Legislative Council, Timothy Tong, deputysecretary for security, said further delay in introducing the draft bill would adversely affect Hong Kong's international image and its international relations.

The new law is expected to empower the HKSAR government to control the activities of suspected terrorists and freeze their assets, if necessary.
