Chinese President Jiang Zemin has given his personal support to a national program to enhance the moral standards of children.

"Strengthen moral building for little citizens, promote children's healthy growth," Jiang said in a message to the younger generation.

"The Chinese little citizens' moral building program" was jointly launched by the All-China Federation of Women, the Ministry of Education and other national authorities in February this year to offset domestic and foreign negative influences on children.

Various activities have been held across the country under the program.
