A helicopter crash killed four people in the Aboriginal-massed Northern Territory in Australian, police announced Thursday.

According to the Australian Associated Press, the helicopter was carrying five people who were conducting survey work mapping Aboriginal sacred sites near a proposed pipeline, two of them were Aboriginal elders.
The helicopter failed to make a scheduled refueling stop Wednesday afternoon and then an air search started over 1,100 square kilometers. The wreck of the Bell ranger helicopter was found Thursday afternoon.
The sole survivor was being flown to hospital.
When European Whites arrived on the continent more than 200 years ago, Australian Aboriginals were living in the stone age, divided into more than 500 tribes with numerous sacred sites spread over the land.
The reason for the crash has not been released.
