Sri Lanka, India Sign Satellite Pact

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) has signed an agreement with Indian National Satellite System (INSAT) to get access to digital satellite television services at a very low costfor TV broadcasters in the country, state-run Daily News said on Saturday.

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) has signed an agreement with Indian National Satellite System (INSAT) to get access to digital satellite television services at a very low costfor TV broadcasters in the country, state-run Daily News said on Saturday.

With the signing of the agreement STL has established a close relationship with INSAT and Indian Space Research Organization, which in turn will enable STL to obtain the INSAT satellite capacity for various satellites-related services.

The services SLT plans to provide include radio networking, telemedicine, distant education, meteorology application and ruraltelephone services based on capabilities acquired by the agreement.
