The Israeli army on Tuesday arrested a deputy chief of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) from his house in the West Bank town of Ramallah, a PFLP statement said.

The statement said that Israeli troops raided the house of AbdelRahim Malouh, a senior member and the second man in the PFLP in Ramallah, searched the house and arrested him.

Jamil Majdalawi, a senior PFLP leader in Gaza condemned the arrest of Malouh, and warned Israel that it should be responsible for Malouh's life.

PFLP chief Ahmed Saadat was arrested by the Palestinian securityforces about four month ago, and on April he was sent together withfour PFLP militants to a jail in the West Bank town of Jericho guarded by British and U.S. security officers.

Malouh is also a member of the Palestine Liberation Organization(PLO) executive committee that is chaired by Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. However, his group has rejected the peace agreementssigned between Israel and the Palestinians.
