Visiting U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld Wednesday said there was indication of Al Qaeda terrorists operating in areas near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir.

"I have seen indications that Al Qaeda is operating in areas near the LoC," Rumsfeld told reporters after a 75-minute meeting with Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

"I don't have any hard evidence of who, how many or where" the Al Qaeda terrorists were operating in Jammu and Kashmir, Rumsfeld said in reply to a question on whether Osama bin Laden's outfit was influencing events in Kashmir.

Declaring that "we will have to stop Al Qaeda," he said that over 60 countries were supporting the international coalition's fight against terrorism.
