Zimbabwean President, Chinese Vice-Premier Meet on Bilateral Ties

Zimbabwean President Robert Gabriel Mugabe and Chinese Vice-Premier Wen Jiabao, both of them are in Rome for the World Food Summit, Wednesday discussed ways to further promote relations between their two countries.

Zimbabwean President Robert Gabriel Mugabe and Chinese Vice-Premier Wen Jiabao, both of them are in Rome for the World Food Summit, Wednesday discussed ways to further promote relations between their two countries.

Wen told Mugabe that the past 22 years have witnessed smooth development of bilateral relations and that there have been frequent exchanges of visits by high ranking officials from the two countries.

While profound changes have taken place in the global situationover the decades, the friendship between China and Zimbabwe has become ever deeper, he said, adding that China is ready to work together with Zimbabwe to further boost bilateral ties.

China attaches importance to its ties with Africa and it will, as always, enhance the friendly cooperation with Africa, the Chinese vice-premier said.

Thanking China for its help and support for Zimbabwe, Mugabe said his country and China have built up deep-rooted friendship and cooperation.

On the same day, Wen also met Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Ramon Perez Roque.
