France Agrees to Fund Ethiopia on City Development

France on Thursday signed a grant agreement of some 1.34 million U.S. dollars with Ethiopia tohelp the African country enhance the over all capacity of the Addis Ababa urban development program.

France on Thursday signed a grant agreement of some 1.34 million U.S. dollars with Ethiopia tohelp the African country enhance the over all capacity of the Addis Ababa urban development program.

The fund would also enable to design and implement selected strategic projects as well as to contribute to better city governance through information sharing networks, according to the agreement.

The agreement was signed here by the Ethiopian Minister of State for Finance and Economic Development Mulu Ketsela and Ambassador of France to Ethiopia Josette Dallant.

Dallant said the French government would continue to support Ethiopia's development strategies and poverty reduction endeavors.

Mulu was quoted by the Ethiopian News Agency as saying that theFrench contribution was an indication of the amicable relations between the two countries.
