Ohga said in a letter to Xinhua that although he cannot officially announce his recovery, he has resumed work at his office and his working hours are gradually increasing.

He collapsed on the evening of November 7 while conducting an orchestra at a theater in Beijing as part of the Fourth Beijing Music Festival. He received first aid on the spot and was rushed to the Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital where he was found to have suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage.

His condition stabilized after 28 days in the hospital and he left Beijing for further treatment in Japan on December 4.

Ohga said in his letter that he stayed in intensive care ward for two months after he returned to Japan. He has recovered by 90 percent, he said, and receives regular health checks.

Ohga thanked all the Chinese and Japanese doctors and nurses who took care of him, and all the friends who helped him recover.
