13th Economic, Trade Fair Opens in Harbin

The 13th China Harbin Fair for Trade and Economic Cooperation opened Friday in Harbine, capital city of northernmost Heilongjiang province.

The 13th China Harbin Fair for Trade and Economic Cooperation opened Friday in Harbine, capital city of northernmost Heilongjiang province.

Chinese State Councilor Wu Yi and Russian Deputy Prime MinisterViktor Borisovich Khristenko addressed the opening ceremony, whichwas attended by more than 500 people both from China and overseas,including government officials, entrepreneurs and diplomats from some 50 countries and regions.

Wu said that the fair has kept expanding in scale since it was further established in 1990 with a growing number of foreign participants year by year.

The fair, a comprehensive trade and economic event involving cooperation in economy and technology, high-tech and investment, has become a venue for setting up economic and trade co-operation between China and its neighboring countries, especially Russia, she noted, and it has contributed positively to regional prosperity.

Expressing her belief that the fair will be a success, she saidthe Chinese government values its economic and trade cooperation with Russia and other neighboring countries.

Khristenko spoke highly of the importance of Sino-Russian strategic, cooperative partnership and frequent high-level contacts between the two nations, saying that bilateral economic and trade relations is equally important.

Moreover, he said he expects Russian representatives will have a wide-ranging and candid exchange of views with their Chinese colleagues and he hoped that more contracts between enterprises ofboth countries will signed during the current fair.
