Chinese State Councilor Meets Russian Deputy PM

Chinese State Councilor Wu Yi met with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Khristenko and they conferred on issues of common concern in Harbin on Saturday.

Chinese State Councilor Wu Yi met with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Khristenko and they conferred on issues of common concern in Harbin on Saturday.

Wu spoke highly of the progress made in the Sino-Russian partnership of cooperation and said she believes the expansion of Sino-Russian cooperation in economic and trade, science and technology, and other areas conforms to the interests of both nations.

On bilateral trade ties, Wu said the trade between China and Russia topped the 10 billion U.S. dollars mark last year, hitting an new high. The mechanism of regular meetings between the prime ministers of the two countries have further advanced bilateral economic ties, she said. She hopes to meet again with Khristenko within the year for an exchange of views on bilateral trade links.

Khristenko expressed satisfaction with the growth of bilateral relations, praised the changes that have taken place in the city of Harbin and expressed his belief that the China Harbin Fair of Trade and Economic Cooperation has a bright future.

Moreover, both sides exchanged views on bilateral energy cooperation and other issues of mutual concern.

Deputy Prime Minister Khristenko was here to attend the 13rd China Harbin Fair for Trade and Economic Cooperation.
