Xiao Yang, China's chief justice and president of the Supreme People's Court, met Monday with a delegation led by Stephanos Mathias, president of the Supreme Court of Greece.

Xiao briefed the Greek guests on China's judicial system and its features.

The judicial system of China is based on China's practical situation and thus has its own characteristics, Xiao said.

He said that the judicial systems of China and Greece, though different in some respects, are similar in the fundamental aspect of "justice and efficiency."

Mathias expressed similar opinions.

The Greek delegation arrived in Beijing Sunday for an eight-day visit to China at the invitation of Xiao.
