British Parachute Soldier Dies in Exercise

A British soldier has been killed on a parachute training exercise in Canada, the Ministry of Defense said on Monday.

A British soldier has been killed on a parachute training exercise in Canada, the Ministry of Defense said on Monday.

Stuart James McMaster, 20, a Royal Irish Regiment member, died on Saturday while taking part in a freefall parachute jump at the Calgary Skydiving Center in Alberta.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

McMaster had completed a number of successful jumps, the ministry said. But it refused to comment on the cause of death.

An investigation is taking place, the ministry added.
