State Council Holds 60th Executive Meeting

The Chinese State Council approved,in principle, draft law of administration permission and amendmentof safety regulations on China's inland river transport at its 60th executive meeting in Beijing on Wednesday.

The Chinese State Council approved,in principle, draft law of administration permission and amendmentof safety regulations on China's inland river transport at its 60th executive meeting in Beijing on Wednesday.

According to the meeting, presided over by Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji, administration permission is an important measure for government bodies to regulate social and economic issues and the draft law will help further China's reform of its administrative system and prevent corruption.

The meeting also ordered the amendment of the former safety regulations on inland river transport, issued in 1986.

The draft law will be submitted to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress for approval. The draft amendment of regulations will be put into effect after revision.
