Tibetan Lawmaker Meets Belgian Guests

Raidi, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress, met Wednesday with a delegation headed by Robert Denis, vice presidentof the Chamber of Representatives of Belgium.

Raidi, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress, met Wednesday with a delegation headed by Robert Denis, vice presidentof the Chamber of Representatives of Belgium.

Raidi said when he visited Belgium earlier this year, he found many people there were very interested in Tibet, but unfortunatelyknew little about it. The delegation's visit would increase their mutual understanding.

He briefed the guests on Tibet's development, saying with the central government's favorable policies, Tibet recorded an economic development rate of 12 percent last year, higher than thenational average.

Denis described Tibet as a beautiful place and said he was gladto visit it.
