Chinese pharmacists Wednesday called for reform of the existing drug supervision system to bring it into line with the legal framework of the World Trade Organization.

Xing Quan, an official with the Beijing Municipal Medicine Supervision Administration, told the Chinese Medicine Economic Forum which opened Wednesday that the pressing task is to build a fair and standardized medicine distribution system as is in common practice around the world.

The drug supervision departments should adopt an objective and scientific attitude towards business operations so that pharmaceutical enterprises can make more profits, he said.
