Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has stressed that all shades of opinion supporting or opposing peace process will be taken into account in order to go ahead with the process, the official Daily News said on Thursday.

While meeting representatives of Tamil political parties Wednesday, Wickremesinghe said that steps would be taken to obtaincabinet approval for a common agreement reached by all parties to implement the peace process and continue with it.

To reach a common agreement, issues must be discussed with religious dignitaries and all other groups who are opposing or supporting the government's stand on the peace process, he noted.

The prime minister said he proposed to set up a joint working committee comprising government and opposition members of parliament to seek their support.

The government and Tamil Tiger rebels are expected to hold direct peace talks in Thailand in July in a bid to end the country's 19-year ethnic war which has claimed over 64,000 lives.
