Chunlan Group Corp, one of China's top-50 enterprises, announced that it will launch 15 scientific research projects this year, and invited global scientific researchers to co-operate.

The projects will be conducted by the research institute affiliated with Chunlan. The company said its aim is to further improve its technological innovation.

Domestic manufacturers should pay more attention to technological innovation to enhance their competitiveness in the global market, said Chunlan.

The forward-looking projects involve many fields like home appliances, auto vehicles, information technology products, and high-tech industries, including new energy and digital networks.

"China's manufacturers should not rely on purchasing advanced technologies from their overseas counterparts, which will put our manufacturing industry at a disadvantage in hot competition," said Shen Jian, a Chunlan vice-president.

Seeking global research partners will enable Chunlan to keep up with the world's first-class technologies, own the intellectual property rights of its research and help the company continue developing, said Shen.

Chunlan research institute, which was set up in 1997, has built up co-operative relationships with more than 60 overseas and domestic research institutes and labs.

The institute has developed core products such as super-scale integrated circuits, magnetic refrigerating technology and nickel-hydrogen high-power cells. The products have great market potential.

The production line for nickel-hydrogen power cells will be finished and operating by the latter half of this year.
