Chinese Military Leader Meets Antigua and Barbuda Guests

Zhang Wannian, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission, met Friday with Trevor Thomas, commander of the Antigua and Barbuda defense force, and his party.

Zhang Wannian, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission, met Friday with Trevor Thomas, commander of the Antigua and Barbuda defense force, and his party.

Zhang said that the relations between China and Antigua and Barbuda had developed smoothly since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1983, and military relations had developed further.

He said that it was significant that Antigua and Barbuda had sent a high-level military delegation to visit China for the firsttime.

Zhang voiced the hope that military relations between the two countries would continuously expand in all fields.

He reaffirmed the Chinese government's stand on the Taiwan issue and expressed gratitude for the adherence of Antigua and Barbuda to the "one China" principle.

Thomas said that Antigua and Barbuda would continue to adhere to the "one China" stance. China was an influential country, and Antigua and Barbuda hoped to promote military and state relations through the visit.
