Chinese, Brunei Armed Forces Chiefs Hold Talks

Fu Quanyou, Chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, held talks with Jassar Aziz, commander of the armed forces of Brunei, Friday.

Fu Quanyou, Chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, held talks with Jassar Aziz, commander of the armed forces of Brunei, Friday.

Fu, also a member of the Central Military Commission, said thatChina and Brunei had enjoyed long-term friendship, and bilateral relations had developed smoothly since the two countries forged diplomatic ties 11 years ago.

The two sides had cooperated in all fields and supported each other in dealing with regional and international issues, he added.

Jassar is the first armed forces chief from Brunei to visit China. Fu said that his visit was the first exchange between the two forces and would have a great impact on their development.

He expressed a willingness to further the military relations between the Chinese and Brunei armed forces.

Jassar said that cooperation between Brunei and China had developed since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1991.

He said that developing military relations between Brunei and China benefited both, and Brunei hoped to promote relations with the Chinese military on the basis of mutual trust and benefit.

He invited Fu to visit Brunei, and Fu accepted the invitation.
