First Iranian-Made Passenger Plane Put Into Service

Iran's first domestically manufactured passenger plane, "Iran 140," made a maiden flight fromcentral city Isfahan to western city Sanandaj on Sunday, the Iranian official news agency IRNA reported.

Iran's first domestically manufactured passenger plane, "Iran 140," made a maiden flight fromcentral city Isfahan to western city Sanandaj on Sunday, the Iranian official news agency IRNA reported.

The plane, a joint product of Iran and Ukraine, are built by an affiliate company of the Iranian Military Industries Organization in Shahin-Shahr, Isfahan.

The plane can accommodate 52 passengers and is specifically designed to take off from short runways and narrow airport bands.

The plane will be put into domestic service, carrying passengersin the Isfahan-Abadan and Isfahan-Kish routes.
