South Korean President Kim Dae Jung will make a three-day visit to Japan from Sunday to attend the final match of the World Cup soccer finals to take place on the same day in Yokohama, the presidential press office said Monday.

Kim, to be accompanied by his wife Lee Hee Ho, is scheduled to attend the final game and the closing ceremony set to be held at Yokohama International Stadium with Japanese Emperor Akihito and Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.

Kim and Koizumi, the two heads of the co-hosts of the 2002 World Cup finals, are scheduled to hold a summit next Monday to discuss a wide range of topics on further developing bilateral ties.

Kim is also scheduled to have a meeting with Emperor Akihito and attend a luncheon hosted by the emperor on July 2 before flying home later that day.

Kim's visit to Japan was agreed on when Koizumi visited South Korea in March for a summit with Kim.

At the March summit, Kim and Koizumi agreed that Koizumi would visit South Korea to attend the opening match and the opening ceremony on May 31 and Kim would attend the final and closing ceremony on June 30.
