Chinese, Moldovan Defense Ministers Hold Talks

Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian held talks Monday with his Moldovan counterpart Victor Gaiciuc.

Gaiciuc is the first Moldovan defense minister to visit China since the two countries forged diplomatic ties 10 years ago. Chi said that the visit will promote Sino-Moldovan military relations.

He said that China and Moldova have enjoyed a traditional friendship, and China is ready to build up the long-term friendly relations on the basis of mutual respect, equality and benefit.

Chi, also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission, said that the Chinese military values its ties with Moldova and hopes to enhance friendly cooperation between the two armed forces.

Gaiciuc said that relations between Moldova and China have developed further in recent years, and the contacts in political, economic and military fields have increased.

He said that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic ties between Moldova and China, hoping the visit will promote relations between the armed forces of the two countries.
