PRINT DISCUSSION CHINESE SEND TO FRIEND

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said Tuesday that China had never provided military training for the Taliban or supporters of al-Quada.

He made the statement at a regular press conference held in Beijing in response to a Washington Times' story accusing China of offering training to Taliban and al-Quada supporters.

Liu said the report is groundless and he was not surprised to hear about this fallacy as the Washington Times likes making sensational stories.

As a friendly neighbor of Afghanistan, China is closely following the development of situation there and hopes that the Afghan issue will be solved in a peaceful way as early as possible,he added.

China would like to further promote neighborly and cooperative relations with the Afghan interim government, Liu said.

He also pointed out that it is known to all that China has always opposed any kind of terrorism and has taken an active part in the international anti-terrorism drive.

A handul of people in the United States, who intend to damage China's reputation and the relations between China and other countries with rumors, will not succeed, he said.
