Taiwanese Woman Drug Trafficker Sentenced to Death on Mainland

A Taiwanese woman was sentenced to death Wednesday by a court in Shantou city, south China's Guangdong province for trying to smuggle 427.1 grams of heroin hidden in her bra out of the Chinese mainland.

A Taiwanese woman was sentenced to death Wednesday by a court in Shantou city, south China's Guangdong province for trying to smuggle 427.1 grams of heroin hidden in her bra out of the Chinese mainland.

Investigations by the Shantou Intermediate People's Court showsthat Zhang Meixiu arrived in Liusha township in Puning city from Taiwan via Hong Kong on March 15, and registered in Jiahao Great Hotel.

On March 17, she bought two bags of heroin from a drug smuggler(currently on the run) for 165,000 Taiwanese dollars.

The next morning, she put the heroin into her bra and dressed in a shirt and jeans went to Shantou airport, where she planned totravel to Hong Kong on flight CZ311.

She was caught red-handed at the airport's security check.

The court also confiscated all her personal property.
