Chinese Defense Minister Meets Kenyan Guests

Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian met Thursday with J. Kibwana, chief of the staff of the Kenyan armed forces, and his party.

Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian met Thursday with J. Kibwana, chief of the staff of the Kenyan armed forces, and his party.

Chi, also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, said that the Chinese and Kenyan peoples have alasting friendship, and cooperation in all fields has developed smoothly.

The frequent exchange visits of the leaders of the two countries have further promoted friendly relations between China and Kenya, he added.

He expressed admiration for the achievements made by the Kenyangovernment in developing the economy, improving the people's living standards, and safeguarding regional peace and stability. He also thanked Kenya for its support to China on the issues of Taiwan and human rights.

He said that the Chinese government values its relations with Kenya, and is ready to promote Sino-Kenyan traditional friendship to a new height.

Kibwana said that the Chinese and Kenyan armed forces have maintained sound cooperation, and Kenya hopes to enhance cooperation with the Chinese military in more fields.

He said he believes his visit will further relations between Kenya and China and their armed forces.
