IMAX Moves to Shanghai, Large Screen to Entertain Chinese

A large screen high as an eight-storey building will "settle down" in Shanghai. By then, locals can enjoy the never-before-filmed images as if they were in movies.

American IMAX Corp. moved its Asia Pacific Headquarters from Singapore to Shanghai Wednesday, CEO Richard Gelfond said that China will become IMAX's second largest market next only to America in the world.

IMAX Corporation ("IMAX"), founded in 1967 and headquartered jointly in New York and Toronto, Canada, is one of the world's leading entertainment technology companies, it is the pioneer and leader of giant-screen, large-format film and motion simulator entertainment.

To date, more than 700 million people have enjoyed The IMAX Experience at specially-designed theatres around the world.

Last April, IMAX came to China and settled down in Shanghai Science & Technology Museum.

Gelfond learned that Chinese citizens are very interested in such film. IMAX has entered into a contract with Golden Harvest Entertainment Corp. In addition, it also concluded an agreement with Shanghai Film Group for introducing the 3D movie Race For Atlantis.
