Iran's Supreme National SecurityCouncil Secretary, Dr. Hassan Rowhani, arrived in Islamabad on Friday on a short visit to Pakistan for talks on regional security.

Rowhani arrived in Islamabad from India where he held high-level security talks, focusing on concerns over Afghanistan and recent tensions between India and Pakistan.

Dr Rowhani, who is leading a six-member delegation, is scheduled to meet President General Pervez Musharraf during his stay in Islamabad.

He will discuss regional situation, with special focus on Afghanistan and Indo-Pak tension. Iran had joined the world community to ask Pakistan and India to defuse tension when the countries were at the brink of a war.

Pakistani officials say the Iranian leader will be briefed on Pakistan's efforts to defuse tension with India and Islamabad's quest to resolve the disputes over Kashmir with India through dialogue.

It is Rowhani's second visit to Pakistan in 13 months. He visited Pakistan in May last year.
