Chinese Vice-Premier Meets Moldova's Defense Minister

Vice-Premier Wen Jiabao expressed satisfaction with the smooth development of bilateral relations between China and Moldova since the two countries established diplomatic relations 10 years ago.

Chinese Vice-Premier Wen Jiabao met Friday with Victor Gaiciuc, Minister of Defense of Moldova.

Wen expressed satisfaction with the smooth development of bilateral relations between China and Moldova since the two countries established diplomatic relations 10 years ago.

Over the past decade, leaders of the two countries have had frequent contacts and the two countries' exchanges and cooperationin such fields as political affairs, economy, technologies and culture, have kept developing.

Chinese President Jiang Zemin's visit to Moldova last July marked a new stage of bilateral ties, Wen said.

The two countries share common interests and understanding on aseries of international issues, Wen said. China is ready to further develop long-term friendly relations of cooperation with Moldova in all fields on the basis of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefits.

The vice-premier said that China appreciates Moldova's adherence to the correct stance on the Taiwan issue.

Wen said that Gaiciuc has had successful talks with his Chinesecounterpart Chi Haotian and that his visit to China will improve the friendly relations of cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries.

Gaiciuc said that he was deeply impressed by his current visit and has learned more about the Chinese People's Liberation Army. China's experience in developing its economy is good for Moldova, he said.
