Israeli Troops Enter Palestinian Security Headquarters in Hebron

Israeli troops entered the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) security headquarters in West Bank's town of Hebron on Friday after a four-day seige of the building to try to flush out suspected militants.

Israeli troops entered the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) security headquarters in West Bank's town of Hebron on Friday after a four-day seige of the building to try to flush out suspected militants.

Some Plestinian witnesses said that The Israeli army stormed the headquarters in the night by airstrikes, adding that gunfire and lights were seen shining from inside the building.

A report of the Palestinian news agency "Wafa" quoted the eyewitnesses as saying that more Israeli army reinforcement of tanks and armored vehicles have been sent to the "AL Muqataa" headquarters.

Israeli armed helicopters and F16 warplanes attacked several buildings in the headquarters by bombs and missiles that hosts several Palestinian security apparatuses, while Israeli special troops occupied the top roves of other buildings, the witnesses said.

Abbas Zaki, member of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), said that the north-eastern part of the "AL Muqataa" headquarters, which is closed to a populated area in the town, was severely attacked by Israeli Apache Helicopters missiles and bombs of F16 warplanes, but No injuries were yet reported.

The Israeli army assault on the headquarters came after the it claimed that there are about 15 Palestinian militants are taking refuge into the headquarters that consists of dozens of buildings.

Earlier in the day, Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat assigned a member of the PNA parliament, Talal Sedder, to negotiate with the Israeli army to find an end to the standoff around the "Al Muqataa", PNA's main security headquarters in the town.

"I went into Al Muqataa, and I searched into several buildings inside, and I reached all places that militants are expected to be hiding. I did not find any militant or anybody inside to talk to," Sedder had earlier said.
