Small and medium-sized German enterprises are welcome to invest in Beijing, said Beijing Mayor Liu Qi during a Monday meeting with Werner Muller, visiting German federal minister of economics and technology.

Liu said long-term economic and technological cooperation exists between Beijing and Germany. Many German entrepreneurs haveprovided valuable suggestions about important issues relating to Beijing and its economic development.

The mayor urged German business people, especially those from manufacturing enterprises and small and medium-sized companies to bring advanced technology and practices as well as investment to Beijing.

Germany will be very glad to take its part in strengthening German-Chinese ties in economic and technological development and to play a role in Beijing's preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games, said Werner Muller.
