Forging Anniversary of Sino-Mauritius Ties Marked

A reception was given in Beijing Tuesday to celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Mauritius.

A reception was given in Beijing Tuesday to celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Mauritius.

Visiting Mauritian Prime Minister Anerood Jugnauth attended the occasion with his government delegation members.

Chen Haosu, president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), which hosted the event,said the two countries had maintained smooth bilateral relations and supported each other over international affairs since they forged diplomatic ties 30 years ago. He expressed the belief that with support from both governments and peoples, their friendship would grow even closer.

Mauritian Attorney-General and Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Emmanuel Jean Leung Shing, said the cooperation between the two nations had been wide-ranging in the past 30 years, and he hoped for still more trade and tourism cooperation.

Also present were He Luli, vice-chairwoman of China's National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, and senior officials from Chinese ministries.
