The black box from the Russian passenger jet that collided with a DHL cargo plane has shown that Swiss air traffic controllers told it to descend only 50 seconds before the collision, and it did so within 25 seconds, RIA-Novosti reported on Wednesday.

The Russian news agency said that experts had reached this conclusion after studying the flight recorders in the black box.

The Swiss air traffic control service, Skyguide, had said the pilot of the Tupolev Tu-154 passenger plane responded late to their repeated calls to descend from an altitude of 11,000 m to a flight path 213 m lower.

At the same time, the cargo aircraft had received an automatic alert from its anti-collision system ordering it to dive, and the two aircrafts collided at an altitude of about 11,000 m.
