Chinese, Turkmen Military Leaders Hold Talks

Fu Quanyou, chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, held talks in Beijing on Thursday with his Turkmen counterpart Chariyarov Serdar.

Fu Quanyou, chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, held talks in Beijing on Thursday with his Turkmen counterpart Chariyarov Serdar.

Chariyarov is the first chief of general staff of the Turkmen armed forces to visit China.

Fu, a member of the Central Military Commission, said that military ties between China and Turkmenistan had developed as state-to-state relations had improved.

The Chinese military held a positive attitude towards developing ties with their Turkmen counterparts, and were ready tofurther relations with Turkmenistan in all fields on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, he said.

Chariyarov said that the armed forces of Turkmenistan and Chinahad cooperated over personnel training.

China's armed forces were well-equiped and the soldiers were professional, he said.

He hoped that Turkmenistan would learn from the Chinese military and strengthen cooperation and contacts with it.
