Canada's jobless rate decreases

The addition of 66,000 new jobs pushed Canada's unemployment rate down to 7.5 percent in June from7.7 percent in May, Statistics Canada said in its monthly report on Friday.

The addition of 66,000 new jobs pushed Canada's unemployment rate down to 7.5 percent in June from7.7 percent in May, Statistics Canada said in its monthly report on Friday.

Job growth in June was concentrated in full-time work,where roughly 60,000 of those new jobs were created.

Since the job rebound began in January, employment has increased by 303,000, or a 2 percent gain. Full-time employment was up 199,000, or 1.6 percent, while part-time employment was up 104,000, a gain of 3.8 percent.

The manufacturing sector, which was hit hard in last year's economic slowdown, continued its rebound. Employment in the sectorjumped another 30,000, despite reduced work in wood product manufacturing.

Employment was also up sharply in finance, insurance, real estate and leasing, Statistics Canada said.
