France downed Japan in three sets fora third straight win in the preliminary Pool D competition at the world league men's volleyball tournament on Saturday in Tokyo, Japan.

The Frenchmen, the surprise winners over the 2000 Olympic champions Yugoslavia in their first two matches last week, triumphed in a score of 37-35, 25-20, 25-18 in the four-team roundrobin.

It was a third straight loss for Japan, who fell to Greece twice last week.
