Serena Williams Wins Wimbledon Title

World number one Serena Williams beat her elder sister Venus Williams 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 to win the women's singles title at the Wimbledon tennis championship onSaturday in London.

World number one Serena Williams beat her elder sister Venus Williams 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 to win the women's singles title at the Wimbledon tennis championship onSaturday in London.

It is Serena's first Wimbledon title and her third Grand Slam title.

Serena, seeded second in the tournament, reaffirmed her status as the new world number one which she took over from Venus on Monday.

Serena, the 1999 US Open champion, also beat Venus to win the French Open less than a month ago. She is now just one Grand Slamwin from joining the ranks of just eight women players who have won on all surfaces.
