The Iranian Foreign Ministry on Monday rejected as "totally false" foreign media report saying fourmembers of the Iranian Ministry of Information had asked for political asylum in Denmark.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi was cited by IRNA news agency as saying concrete information has indicated that the report carried by TV2 television in Denmark last month is not true.

The report which came at a time when Denmark is to assume the European Union (EU) presidency aimed to undermine the Iranian-EU positive and developing relations, Asefi said.

Last month, the TV2 television reported that four Iranian secretservice agents arrived in Denmark after leaving Iran in March and asked for political asylum.

Earlier in June, Iranian government spokesman Abdullah Ramezanzadeh rejected that four members of Iran's Ministry of Information had been arrested in Denmark on charges of espionage.
