Chinese PLA General Staff Deputy Chief Meets Venezuelan Guests

Xiong Guangkai, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met Tuesday with Roberto Gonzalez Cardenas, president of the Advanced Institute for the Defense of Venezuela, and his party.

Xiong Guangkai, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met Tuesday with Roberto Gonzalez Cardenas, president of the Advanced Institute for the Defense of Venezuela, and his party.

General Xiong said that state and military relations between China and Venezuela had developed well, personnel contacts had increased and cooperation had expanded.

China was ready to work with Venezuela to further the military relations, he said.

Major General Gonzalez said he had seen with his own eyes China's splendid culture and history and its rapid economic growth.

The armed forces of Venezuela and China had maintained good relations, he noted, and he wished to continue to work for promoting cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries.
