Chinese Vice-premier Leaves for Portugal, Russia

Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing left Beijing Wednesday on an official visit to Portugal and Russia at the invitation of the Portuguese government and the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Valentina Matviyenko.

Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing left Beijing Wednesday on an official visit to Portugal and Russia at the invitation of the Portuguese government and the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Valentina Matviyenko.

Li and Matviyenko will jointly chair the third session of the China-Russia Cooperation Committee on Education, Culture, Health and Sports.

Li's entourage includes his wife Zhang Suzhen, the Minister of Education Chen Zhili and other senior department officials.

Among those who saw Li off at the Great Hall of the People were State Councilor Luo Gan, department officials and diplomatic envoys from the two countries.
