The DPRK said two South Korean warships entered its territorial waters on Wednesday in what it dubbed as a "premeditated provocation," less than two weeks after a bloody naval clash between the two sides.

"This ...is a premeditated provocation to ignite a new armed clash by further aggravating the situation in these waters," the DPRK's navy said in a statement carried by the North's official news agency.

The DPRK reported a similar incident on July 7 in waters near a disputed maritime border west of the two Koreas. The two sides remain technically at war under a 1953 armed truce.

The report said matters had "become extremely tense since the armed clash on June 29," referring to a naval clash in which Seoul's Defense Ministry said four South Korean sailors and an estimated 30 from the North died.

There was no immediate comment from the South on the report.
