Over 20,000 Economic Criminal Suspects Nabbed in China

Sources from the Ministry of Public Security revealed public security organs throughout China have investigated 23,582 economic criminal cases and arrested 21,937 suspects, saving an economic loss of over 3.3 billion yuan from January to May this year.

On account of some enterprises' false reports on registered capital and investment, public security organs and industrial and commercial departments have jointly rectified those crimes. In this area public security organs have investigated 735 cases from January to May, which are involving 4.24 billion yuan, an increase of 31.7 percent over the same period of last year.

Meanwhile, the organs at all levels have uncovered a batch of big and main cases, of which Shanghai organs have ferreted out 54 cases, arresting 44 suspects and saving a loss of 41 million yuan.

The national public security organs have banned 1,641 pyramid sale organizations, arrested 457 organizers and core members and repatriated 50,000 followers since last November.

When rectifying fake cigarettes, the organs have suppressed about 1,000 illegal organizations and restored the sector's good order over the period from January to May.

Regarding fake agricultural means of production, the organs have launched particular schemes with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture, to investigate "clenobuterol hydrochloride" cases cooperating with local organs in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong and Shanghai.

Moreover, local organs have conducted overall fire-fighting security checks to 34,400 petrol stations. Those that are not in line with the national criteria will be forced to shift or banned with the approval of the government.
